Job Description

Our company is seeking an in office candidates for the position of Programmer/IT Support Person for our Midway, BC operation. Within a Lean lumber manufacturing environment, as Programmer & IT Support Person working onsite, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support on all programming and IT related issues at our mill site.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Support and troubleshoot automated lumbermill systems
  • Proficient with case documentation and digital communications
  • Operate effectively across development platforms, tools, networks, servers, and databases
  • Experience with infrastructure and support, managing tickets in a service ticket queue
  • Research and develop solutions and improvements on a team-level.
  • Ability to triage, investigate and replicate programming and IT issues
  • Experience writing reports to fully describe problem technical issues and dive deep into root causes
  • troubleshoot network infrastructure issues and subnets
  • Ability to work with others and prioritize issues

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in IT support and programmer experience
  • Certificate in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field
  • Understanding of automated lumbermill, automation, & configuration management systems (considered an asset)
  • Experience with time management, case load management, help desk management
  • Read and understand wiring schematics and blueprints.
  • Advanced understanding of Variable Frequency Drives
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • Familiar with 4-20 ma instrumentation, servo systems, positioning systems and assorted feedback devices.
  • Understanding control circuit wiring and troubleshooting
  • Experience and Proficient with Allen Bradley PLC RSLogix 5000
  • Fluent with Linux & Windows.
  • Knowledge of compatibility layers
  • Knowledge of Computer systems, server setups
  • Any experience with COE DTEC trimmer systems would be an asset.
  • Familiar with SCADA based datalogging/ VBA Skill / SQL/ PHP Ladder Logic
  • Languages: C#, C++, VB.Net/ Advanced
