Job Summary: 

As a Drafting Technician, you will work closely with engineering and manufacturing to generate 3d models, drawings, manufacturing instructions, and bills of materials necessary to support MacNeil product line.   

 

Job Duties: 

  • Verify drawings to manufacturing specifications
  • Generate product definitions and specifications for parts/assemblies.
  • Create design specifications, documentation, and material lists
  • Prepare complete documentation packages for engineering, manufacturing and outside processing.
  • Participate in mechanical product design including development of product specification, material selection, CAD design, and detailed product drawings.  Seek support from Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Purchasing, and/or Technical Support associates when needed
  • Verify or generate BOMs for all existing and new products.
  • Verify and update manufacturing labor times.
  • Interface with other company departments to ensure effective communication for all activities
  • Identify opportunities for product improvements and/or cost reductions
  • Proficient in design and disciplined in drafting standards
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required
  • Comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, local regulatory laws, and company safety policies
  • Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time   

Qualifications: 

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of drafting and design experience in the manufacturing
  • Proven experience with Solidworks or SolidEdge
  • Must have ability to interpret specifications, recommend design improvements, and execute process improvements
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Interpersonal skills to work within a team, taking direction from Project Managers and Engineers
  • Time management skills to complete error-free work within the required timeframe
  • Communication skills with an emphasis on details for creating documentation and reports
  • Minimal travel required between two local manufacturing locations.

 

Physical Requirements:          

  • Must stoop, bend, reach, walk; perform repetitive motions using hands to grasp, push, pull or do fine manipulations
  • Required to stand for prolonged periods
  • Intermittently lift light to medium weight up to 50 lbs.
  • May perform duties requiring employee to intermittently bend and twist
