 The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for executing and improving procurement processes and KPIs within the functional area in a fast-paced food production environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Negotiate contracts with new and existing vendors to secure advantageous terms and pricing
  • Monitor contracts lifecycles to ensure contract compliance and execution internally and externally
  • Develop an overall vendor base which creates a competitive advantage, utilizing spend volume and synergies across internal company’s network
  • Develop and execute RFP’s, contract management, and vendor performance measurements
  • Drive sourcing solutions initiatives working with product development and operations
  • Analyze and report trends, make recommendations and align on risk hedging strategies for all subcategories
  • Develop and deliver sourcing strategies to ensure geographical balance and scale to support a high-growth business within the managed category but across multiple regions
  • Develop key and strategic procurement and sourcing standardized processes across various categories: sourcing process, supplier selection, approval and performance management processes
  • Mobilize cross functional teams to address any potential supply chain disruptions. Work with other supply chain partners and leads to ensure supply continuity
  • Manage and implement effective procurement and sourcing strategies, including cost analysis, price mechanisms, appropriate price models delivering consistent results bringing positive impact to bottom line spend
  • Generate and monitor accuracy of materials spend budget in parallel with organizing most efficient materials flows to multiple manufacturing facilities across Canada
  • Conduct sourcing initiatives to support business objectives for improved cost, quality, and service
  • Responsible for planning and executing mid to long term coverage requirements plan as well as designing most efficient materials flow across multiple facilities and regions

 Expertise we are looking for:

  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in procurement or sourcing, ideally in a high growth environment
  • Experience within food, manufacturing or retail operations is preferred
  • Experience to work within multi-plant, multi-regional operational structure is preferred
  • Education in BA, Economics, Finance or Engineering is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and superior analytical skills are required
  • A procurement accreditation such as CPM, CPP, SPSM, CIPS, or SCMP is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems is required
  • Food safety knowledge is desired
  • Supply chain financial acumen and experience with pricing models are desired
