The Estimator prepares estimates of the probable costs of materials, equipment, and labour for construction and general contracting projects based on bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Prepare bid packages and tender documents
  • Interpret blueprints and other drawings and specifications to gain thorough knowledge of the project scope
  • Identify and quantify cost factors such as time, materials, equipment and labour expenses
  • Identify risk factors
  • Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to gain better pricing
  • Collaborate with management, project managers, engineers, architects, trades and others to prepare the estimate
  • Administer subcontracts and coordinate price packages with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Prepare quantity take-offs
  • Establish a critical path schedule and completion timelines in collaboration with the Project Manager
  • Participate in site reviews, management meetings, and project closing
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Provide directives and oversee the work of the Project Coordinator as it relates to estimating activities
  • Properly care for company tools, equipment, technology, phones, and vehicles and take the necessary precautions to prevent damage and theft.
 
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience within the construction industry
  • Post-secondary education in construction estimation or construction management
  • Solid knowledge of construction trades and specifications
  • Well-versed with all applicable building codes
  • Well-versed with the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Understanding of a construction project lifecycle
  • Accuracy in estimates and bids of projects valuing a total of up to $7 million
  • Accuracy in determining project timelines
  • Accuracy in determining necessary supplies and equipment

We do exceptional work for the Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial sector. We pride ourselves on constructing/renovating Group Homes, schools, and churches, as well as car dealerships and retail environments.
 
The Site Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day activities and safety at a project site. The Site Supervisor will be working on construction sites and supervise the construction workers. They will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure a project is completed on time and within budget. The Site Supervisor works 44 hours per week and requires a valid G Class License as well as a personal vehicle.
