Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Truro, NS

We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our growing company in Truro, Nova Scotia.

We will provide service for Wacker Neuson equipment in Atlantic Canada, and so this role will focus mainly on excavators, loaders, skid steers, and compaction equipment. This job comes with extensive training for the successful applicant.

Typical repairs include preventative maintenance inspections, hydraulics, exhaust, brakes, fuel, electrical, and engine repairs.

 

Principle Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment
  • Use hand tools and power tools, additional instruments, and computer diagnostic systems
  • Travel to customer job sites throughout Atlantic Canada, including regular overnight travel; Service truck provided. 
  • Interact with customers in a professional and friendly manner, showing an appreciation for their needs and time constraints
  • Document work completed through timesheets, expense reports, and service reports
  • Participate in training and consistently improve knowledge of equipment
  • Maintain a high standard for safety by following site requirements, manufacturer’s procedures, and company safety policies. This is a safety sensitive position.

 

Requirments

  • Previous mechanical experience in a heavy-duty environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and desire to learn
  • Certified Journeyperson in Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent is preferred
  • Familiarity with computers and diagnostic programs
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
