Sawmill Millwright

One of the best sawmill locations in Alberta, we are located in Cochrane which is just 15 minutes west of Calgary and 45 minutes east of Canmore.

We’ve been in operation for 80 years and have a progressive and dynamic operation which includes the usual high-tech sawmill, up to date planer with a GradExpert in behind, several kilns, two pressure treating wood preservative plants, a post peeling operation and a by product utilization division.

Our timber supply is secure through an FMA and Quota and we operate in a beetle-free region of the province. We are a family owned and operated outfit with just over 200 dedicated employees and have some of the best people in the forest industry working here!

Requirements:

• Three or more years of being a Sawmilll Millwright is required
• Certified millwright or equivalent experience
• Experience working on Optimil systems, VKB and Nicholson Debarkers, Newnes trimmers or stackers and J-bars, or similar systems preferred.
• Experience with compressors, hogs, chippers and screeners is an asset.
• Proficient with hydraulics, pneumatics and conveyor/transfer systems.
• Leader in safety with a proven track record of assessing every job before you start, capable of sticking to SOP’s and best practices as well as never missing a lock, tag and test protocol.

Schedule:

• The maintenance team is 24/7 as it supports our production requirements therefore shiftwork of days, nights and weekends is required.
• We feel we have a desirable schedule of 8 on and 6 off to keep your work and home life balanced.
• 44 regular hours plus weekly OT
