Job Description:

The top priorities of this position will be to learn and understand the design, manufacture, and test requirements for connectors. This includes understanding industry, military, and customer specifications.  Understand the customer's requirements and determine how to design both the mechanical and electrical aspects of the connector.  Additional priorities include designing connector piece parts and assemblies, understanding test methods and vendor capabilities.

This role will report to the Engineering Manager in the Aerospace team. Opportunities for advancement and growth could be to Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, Design Engineering Supervisor, or Marketing Application Engineer.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing connector requirements, and designing connectors to meet the requirements
  • Customer specification reviews
  • Mechanical and some Electrical design and analysis
  • Conduct or assist in technical trials
  • Active participation in support of design reviews, testing and the introduction of new products and product derivatives.
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues and implementing effective solutions
  • Define and implement cost reductions
  • Purchasing assistance and vendor interface
  • Support for Marketing for new product inquiries, and customers to ensure an overall successful program launch
  • Design product with projected costs in mind
  • Source potential vendors for supplying component parts
  • Other related duties as required
  • Works closely with Engineering team and production

 

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical and some Electrical Engineering analysis and design skills, especially 3D CAD
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • B.A.S.c –in Mechatronics or Mechanical
  • Part design knowledge
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
