POSITION: Quality Improvement Specialist
Alliance-Wide
Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Improvement Specialist will report to the Manager, Quality Improvement and provide support and facilitate HPHA Quality Improvement opportunities and processes to staff and leaders as directed by the Manager. The QI Specialist will promote and support the mentoring and coaching of HPHA leaders and staff to develop quality improvement capacity towards achieving and sustaining continuous quality improvements through Process Optimization, Project Management and Quality Improvement methodologies and consideration of the impact of Human Factors within system design. Under the direction of the Manager, the QI Specialist is responsible actively leading/facilitating quality improvement initiatives within their assigned portfolio.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Quality Improvement

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Regulated Health Professional - graduate of a college or university program preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Healthcare improvement environment
- Certification in Quality Improvement/Process Optimization (Lean) and Project Management or related courses
o Example: IHI Improvement Advisor, IDEAs Advanced Learning Program, SME Lean Bronze, Lean Green Belt (OHA, University of Michigan, Western University Professional Project Management Certificate etc.), IHI Open School Certificates in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience leading and/or managing quality improvements in a healthcare environment
- Clinical background an asset

ABILITIES:
- Ability to work within and lead a multidisciplinary team
- Strong presentation and teaching skills with knowledge and experience in adult education strategies; skilled in group facilitation,
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, and coach and mentor with well-developed conflict resolution skills
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management organizational and planning skills
- Understanding of continuous quality improvement tools and methodologies
- High level of initiative and self direction
- Well-developed computer skills, including knowledge of Meditech and Microsoft Office programs
- Demonstrated experience with data analysis, data manipulation, report generation preferred

POSITION SPECIFIC DUITES:
- Facilitate, coordinate and support quality improvement within the system.
- Direct, facilitate, and coordinate identification of opportunities based on needs, performance metrics and strategic priorities to improve system outcomes, mitigate risks and enhance the staff and patient experience.
- Ensure that Quality Improvement projects are aligned with HPHA strategic priorities and operating goals.
- Participate in the operational aspects of the incident management systems root cause analysis module as requested.
- Develop and provide Quality Improvement education to HPHA Physicians and staff as required.
- Prepare and deliver quality improvement reports as required.
- Foster and maintain continuous professional development
- Utilize information systems data to plan, monitor and evaluate aspects of departmental performance; identify deviations and trends; plan and implement effective action to strengthen performance
- Oversee and assume overall responsibility that independent project budgets remain on target; monitors and prepares modifications in response to budget variances, changed needs or availability of resources.
