Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Estimator with contract administration experience and a good understanding of architectural drawings, specifications, and quantitative analysis to join our team.

The Estimator and Contract Administrator will develop estimates, budgets, and bid submissions for new residential projects. This role also performs contract administration and budget management transactions throughout the duration of the project. This includes: bid analyses, purchase orders, change orders, and subcontracts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring all estimates are developed within project goals
  • Prepare detailed construction Cost Estimates, Purchase Orders, and Change Orders
  • Periodically visit project sites to clearly understand the scope of work to be estimated
  • Prepare all bid documents and solicit vendors and subcontractors for estimates
  • Review and evaluate trade partner and supplier cost estimates and scopes of work for completeness and accuracy
  • Perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings where applicable
  • Prepare cost estimates of material, labor, equipment, and input into estimating software
  • Prepare written project scope of work
  • Create quote & budget proposals for client presentation
  • Prepare all subcontract documents and purchase orders as per the company policy using proprietary documentation.
  • Record and document all back up information for estimate reviews with manager
  • Review historical estimated cost performance to allow for continuous improvement of estimating accuracy.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3+ years experience estimating within Ontario residential construction
  • 3+ years experience in contract administration within Ontario residential construction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to commute regularly to the GTA (Toronto) and work in an office setting
  • Successful completion of a Civil Engineering, Architectural, or Construction Management diploma/degree or equivalent is an asset
  • Sound knowledge of the custom home construction industry
  • Ability to work on multiple estimates of varying size and complexity at the same time.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Extensive experience working with electronic estimating and takeoff software
  • Understanding of prime contract types (fixed fee, cost plus, unit price, etc.)
