We are a growing business that has been operating in the greater GTA for over 10 years. We are currently looking for a Fleet Manager/Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment to ensure their safety and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager/President to oversee the acquisition of new vehicles and equipment, including price negotiation and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and execute fuel management strategies to manage costs and monitor consumption.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee drivers to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ensure that all vehicles and equipment meet regulatory requirements, including licensing, permits, and inspections.
  • Develop and manage budgets for vehicle maintenance, fuel, and other fleet-related expenses to control costs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all vehicles and equipment, including tracking usage and scheduling maintenance.
  • Implement safety programs and policies to minimize risks and accidents involving fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Generate reports on fleet performance, including costs, fuel usage, and maintenance schedules, to facilitate decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, such as maintenance providers and fuel suppliers, to ensure quality services at competitive prices.
  • Ensure fleet operations comply with environmental regulations, including emissions standards and waste disposal.
  • Develop long-term strategies for fleet management, including fleet expansion and technology adoption, to support organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement plans for responding to emergencies involving fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair fleet and heavy equipment (earth movers, telehandlers, trucks, trailers, large and small machinery).
  • Complete tasks promptly and efficiently to ensure critical equipment is back in service quickly, minimizing downtime.
  • Perform duties in the shop, yard, or construction sites as required.
  • Document tasks performed accurately, concisely, and legibly.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in Construction, with ideally 3+ years in a Fleet Management role.
  • Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment, light vehicles, and support equipment is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in using technology, including computers and software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel), and ability to learn new and company-specific programs.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize amidst competing demands.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Travel to various sites may be required.
  • Indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions
